We know that one of your big concerns around the supply chain is where meat comes from. All of our in-store meat counters now sell 100% British meat and this week we take a look at our in-store butchery, to give you a better understanding of how our meat gets to you.
We have fresh meat counters in more than 600 of our stores around the UK. All of them offer 100% British meat, not just for taste but also to support our farming industry and help cut down on food miles.
We work closely with a select group of British farmers, who are committed to providing top-quality fresh food, so you can be sure that the meat you buy at our fresh counters is produced to the highest standard. The fresh range of choice cuts available on our fresh meat counters changes seasonally, and includes beef, lamb, free-range chicken and pork.
You can choose exactly which cut of meat you want at the counter and have it prepared while you wait. Joints are sold whole or made to your specifications, giving you a wider range of options and helping to cut down on waste.
Cuts of British meat to look out for at the Tesco meat counter:
Rack of lamb: Tender, high-quality meat from the rib area that makes an excellent family roast.
Beef rib joint: Full of flavour, this tender cut of meat is perfect for roasting.
Pork ribs: Inexpensive and flavoursome, pork ribs can be grilled, barbecued or roasted, and are fun for kids to eat.
Sirloin steak: A tasty cut with a melt-in-the-mouth texture ideal for roasting or barbecuing.
Our counter teams are all fully trained and happy to help by de-boning joints, preparing ribs or selecting the right cut or weight for any occasion.
